Chain and semi-precious Stones, new inspirations

On a thin Silver chain made of plaited threads, black or gold, a strand of Stones...
Timeless gold or black-classic, deep blue or deep red, milky white or pure shinny gold, Laure's inspiration has made your choices hard to make.

Semi-precious Stones

TopazeImperial Topaz (from Greek topazos, name of Topazos Island in the Red Sea)
Topaz is a much sought-after Stone, found in many different colours in its natural state.
The one used in Laure's designs is honey-yellow, with a light shade of rose, and comes from Africa.

The Egyptians used to say Topaz was coloured by God of sun's, Ra, reflection; in those days it was considered to be a very powerful talisman, protecting the faithful from evil. The Romans shared their belief, giving credit for the colour of Topaz to Jupiter. Legend has it Topaz makes one clearsighted. The Greeks believed that wearing it would make one invisible. It would also change colour when in contact with poisoned food or drink, would heal insomnia and asthma.

Grenat Hydrogrossular Garnet (from Latin granatus, grained, same root as the fruit, pomegranate)
Hydrogrossular Garnet mostly comes from Burma, South Africa and Mozambique when the Stones used in the collection come from.
Garnet is well know for its intense red colour.

Its stunning brightness is due to its high refractive index. Legend says that Noah himself used a lantern equipped with Garnets to direct his arc towards the night. We can find Garnet on many pieces of jewelry from ancient Egypt, Greece or Rome. Fearless pioneers and travelers wore Garnets to prevent the unforeseen. They were considered to be protective talismans, as they could shine in the dark and protect the one wearing them from evil charms.
Garnet is the Stone of those born in January and a symbol for friendship.

IoliteIolite (from Greek ios, violet)
The main Iolite fields are located in Brazil, Madagascar, Burma, Sri Lanka, United States and in the Orissa province of India, which is where the Stones used in the collection come from.
Iolite is of a nice blue-violet colour and doesn't look like any other gem; and it doesn't need any treatment to obtain this colour.

Vikings probably extracted Iolite in Norway or Greenland fields to start with. They used little pieces of Iolite as the world first polarization filters. Looking through a lens made with Iolite, they could determine the exact position of sun, and thus sail to the New World and back.

Pierre de LuneMoonstone
Moonstone can be found in Brazil, Madagascar, Burma, Sri Lanka, United States, India, Tanzania and Australia - where those used in this collection come from.
Moonstone is an adularia with silvery or bluish calling recalling the moonlight, related to the crystal structure of this mineral. The reflections in the mineral are caused by the optical phenomenon of iridescence.

Moonstone from Sri Lanka, the country of origin of the adularia, is sparkling pale blue and almost transparent.
In Arab countries, it is a symbol of fertility.

... sur le fil

ChainChain of Silver threads, gilded with Gold or tinted in black
Resistant, soft and flexible, the technology used consists in the Argentium treatment of the Sterling Silver, to slow down the darkening process; each thread is gilded with Gold or coloured in black and then braided. It takes four braided Silver threads to form the delicate flat 4 mm chain which you wrap around you without fear of catching your hair, skin or clothing; it will find its original shape back when softly maintained between thumb and index finger.
